PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
St. Columba’s Episcopal Church Washington, DC
Director of Communications 10/2013 – 08/2020
Served a large metropolitan congregation (800 members) as communications strategist, program facilitator and social justice advocate. Designed print, web and social media content to effectively engage with multi-generational audiences. Developed campaigns to support 35+ ministries, working as editor, graphic designer, and photographer. Collaborated with vestry on St. C’s new vision, and orchestrated church rebranding, and website and publication redesign. Successfully supported Stewardship committee on multiple Annual Campaigns and year-round giving programs.

President, Marketing and Communications Strategist 8/1998 – 10/2013
Communications consultant for 10+ years, developing a proven track record of helping non profits and businesses reach their full potential by implementing integrated marketing strategies, leveraging online presence, direct mail, social media and print collateral to achieve organizational goals. Organizations included:

  • Christ Church of Hamilton Wenham (MA) Hamilton, MA
    Teamed up with their communications ministry at a critical juncture in church history to create a new communications strategy with the goal of re-energizing declining membership and attracting new members. Collaborated on a 100th anniversary event, multimedia presentation and commemorative church history book.
  • CIP4 Organization Darmstadt, Germany
    Conceived and coordinated all marketing communications for global JDF print automation initiative and international member organization. Produced web content, monthly online newsletters and member recruitment collateral. Synchronized all event logistics from annual summits to corporate presentations and press conferences. Coordinated media relations and developed a wide array of collateral including event promotion, signage, educational tools and show guides.
  • National Park Service Salem, MA
    Produced the Salem Maritime Festival for a four-year period, developing program content and recruiting and coordinating all sponsors, demonstrators, exhibitors and performers (200 stakeholders in all). Developed all promotional campaign content (editorial and design) for press releases, web content, strategically placed magazine articles, advertisements and signage. Worked collaboratively with Park Rangers (adhering to strict government guidelines and budgets) to synchronize programming for this annual maritime heritage event.
  • Essex National Heritage Commission Salem, MA
    Developed overall branding, marketing strategy and member retention program for the Essex National Heritage Area, a subsidiary of the National Park Service. Worked collaboratively with 140+ stakeholders to produce annual Trails & Sails Weekend, leading multi-function groups to achieve event objectives. Recognized by National Park Service for marketing campaign promoting the reopening of the Saugus Ironworks NHS.
